Privacy policy

Last updated 27 August 2026

The short version

This website does not ask you for anything. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms and no newsletter. We set no cookies, run no analytics and use no advertising or tracking pixels.

The only data that exists is what your browser sends automatically when it loads a page — and we never sell it, rent it or use it to build a profile of you.

01

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the Opeton website you are reading right now. Opeton Oy is the data controller. You can reach us any time at hello@opeton.co.

The Opeton mobile apps for iOS and Android are not covered here. The apps involve accounts, spoken conversations and learning history, so they are governed by a separate app privacy policy.

02

What we collect from you

Nothing. This site has no login, no contact form, no comment section and no newsletter signup. There is no field anywhere on it for you to type into, so we never receive your name, your email address or anything else about you — unless you choose to email us yourself.

If you do email us, we keep that message and your address for as long as we need to answer you and to keep a record of the conversation.

03

What your browser sends automatically

Like every website, this one cannot be delivered to you without some technical data. When you open a page, our hosting provider records a standard server log entry containing:

  • your IP address
  • the page you requested and the time you requested it
  • your browser and operating system (the user-agent string)
  • the page that referred you, if your browser sends one

We use this only to serve the site, diagnose errors and protect it from abuse. It is not linked to any identity, and we do not use it to track you between visits or across other websites.

04

Cookies

This website sets no cookies at all. It stores nothing in your browser’s local storage either. That is also why you have not been shown a cookie banner — there is nothing to consent to.

05

Third parties that can see your IP address

Some parts of the page — fonts, images and flag icons — are served from other companies’ servers. Your browser contacts them directly, which means they receive your IP address and user-agent as part of that request. They are:

Vercel

Hosts and serves this website. Keeps short-lived server logs for delivery, performance and abuse prevention.

Google Fonts

Serves the Open Sans typeface used across the site.

Webflow CDN

Serves images, illustrations and legacy stylesheets left over from our previous website.

flagcdn.com

Serves the flag icons shown in the list of supported languages.

We do not send any of them information about you beyond what your browser sends in the course of fetching a file. Each of them handles that data under its own privacy policy.

06

Links to other sites

The site links out to the App Store, Google Play and to third-party resources such as the Finnish Immigration Service and the national YKI registration service. Once you follow a link, you are on someone else’s site and their privacy policy applies, not ours.

07

Legal basis and how long we keep things

Under the GDPR, we process server log data on the basis of our legitimate interest in delivering a working, secure website. Because there is no marketing, profiling or advertising involved, we do not ask for consent for it.

Server logs are kept by our hosting provider only for a short retention period and are then discarded. Emails you send us are kept for as long as the correspondence is relevant.

08

Your rights

If you are in the EU or the EEA, the GDPR gives you the following rights. In practice there is usually very little for us to act on, because this site holds almost nothing about you — but the rights apply regardless:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
  • Ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or delete it.
  • Ask us to restrict or stop processing it.
  • Object to processing we base on legitimate interest.
  • Complain to your national data protection authority. In Finland that is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.

To exercise any of them, email us. We will respond within one month.

09

Changes to this policy

If we add anything to the site that changes how data is handled — analytics, a contact form, a newsletter — we will update this page and change the date at the top before that feature goes live.
